This programme is an exciting combination of language, culture, community assistance and environmental work.

Costa Rica is a country that has tackled the issues of health, education and quality of life. Nicaragua is an emerging country that has yet to solve the problems of putting a country back together after years of civil unrest. Both countries offer participants an opportunity to learn and use Spanish and experience the culture and people of Central America. Costa Rica, however, is still a developing country and students who join Global Perspective will have the opportunity to participate in community development.

Although the programme may change slightly from year-to-year, activities in the past have included:

*   Language Training at the Instituto Guanacasteco de Idiomas in Nicoya, northwest Costa Rica

*   Home stays in San Ramon and Nicoya – A great opportunity to use your language skills

*   Building houses with Habitat for Humanity

*   Participating in Leatherback Turtle conservation with Anai at Gandoca

*   Hiking in the Rainforest at Monteverde and walking through the cloud canopy at the Santa Elena Reserve
